What is Timber & Ink…

A blog. A podcast. And underneath both, a quiet argument: that ordinary life is worth more attention than we usually give it.

This is the place where I write — and increasingly, talk out loud — about the things that make me slow down. Journaling. Loose-leaf tea. Mailed letters. Good pens, old maps, the small heirloom tools that age into character. Some weeks it's a thousand words on something most people would walk past. That's sort of the point.

Hi, I'm Joshua Davis. By day, I work in clinical technology at a hospital here in Tulsa, Oklahoma. By heart, I serve in student ministry at my church — a role I love . At home there's Michelle, who's been my incredible wife since 2012; our adventurous children Caden and McKenna, who notice things I'd miss; and Riley, she’s our labradoodle, who often blends in as one of the children.

My background is a bit of a winding trail. EMT training in my twenties. Eight years as a portrait photographer. Over sixteen years in healthcare, working my way into the clinical-tech side of it. And Eagle Scout in there somewhere — which I think is where the curiosity habit started, along with the slow lesson that the more you know how to do, the more you have a chance to offer back.

If any of this is your kind of slowness, you're in the right corner of the internet. Stay as long as you like.
